Experiencing ghost disruption is terrifying, but when it got worse and demonologist or ghost busters or whatever it is have to step in that probably means the death of you. Whether you believe in ghost or not, ghost disruption cases happened lots of the times and not only in movies. However, these movies listed below are not just movies about poltergeist or such, but they are all adapted by real horror stories. Let’s see if you have watched the movie and realized that it was real horror case. Here is the list…
1. The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Conjuring is the adventure of Ed and Lorraine Warren in form of movies. Although not all of them are true story since, of course, they put a bit of spices here and there to make it more appropriate for the movies, but basically The Conjuring 2 is adapted from a real story in London back in 1977. Enfield House where Hodgson family, a mum and four kids, were disturbed by an unknown entity. Starting from the shaking bed, moving furniture until people injured. They tried to look for help but everyone who help them become victims: their neighbours, police officers, journalists. The final was when Janet, one of the daughter possessed by a poltergeist. That is when Ed and Lorraine step in to the case.

2. Deliver Us from Evil (2014)
The movie was based on Ralph Sarchies’s book Beware The Night which documents his work as a demonologist and a cop. Unlike the book, the movie is all connected cases – of course to make it more dramatic for a movie that a cop involved in a connected ghost story with different cases. Many people believe that his story were mostly hoaxes. There are no real proves of them, some of the proves that Ralph showed to people mostly considered as subjective proves which people think it is just him who thinks that it was poltergeist disruptions. However, there are some people believe that the stories were real with all of the cases and proves, and that is when the movie got quite good rating from IMDb which reach 6.2 out of 10.

3. Annabelle (2014)
When the doll was brought up by The Conjuring, people started to pay some attentions to the haunted doll, Annabelle. The truth is that Ed and Lorraine actually save the real haunted doll in their cornerstone of spooky museum of trophies. Although the origin of Annabelle has been coming out as a movie entitled Annabelle: Creation in 2017, no one really knows how the real doll become haunted by ghost. What we know is that Annabelle began her reign terror in 1970 after being purchased by a mother as a gift to her college daughter, and that is when Ed and Lorraine documented their story as their another poltergeist case.

4. The Sacrament (2013)
The movie was talking about journalists who tried to rescue a relative from abusive cult. The cult was inspired by the Peoples Temple settlement Jonestown in Guyana. In 1978 a preacher Jim Jones and his congregation of hundreds of followers moved to Guyana. What makes this event remembered is the mass suicide committed by this cult in November 18, 1978. This insane act was done for the purpose of religious empowerment or deviance. For whatever reason it is, over 900 people lost their lives and that is huge number and it is totally insane.

5. The Conjuring (2013)
This is where The Conjuring Universe began, The Conjuring 1, a movie about Ed and Lorraine who were investigating a haunted house in Rhode Island. In 1971, the Perron family moved into this house and began to notice strange things happening in their house: missing furniture, voices from kitchen, and dirt after cleaning up. The girls also notice some spirits that were not harmless but they were angry. Turned out that the house was a house of a satanist named Bathsheba Sherman. Ed and Lorraine made multiple visits to the house and even did seance, and during that, the mother was possessed and speaking in tongues even levitating from the ground in her chair. While in the movie this seance was changed into an exorcism, but most of the stories were real and based of many witnesses.

6. The Possession (2012)
The real title was The Dybbuk Box which were inspired by the story of a haunted box that supposedly terrorized multiple owners. The true story is that such box actually existed and was sold on E-bay to John Haxton, a museum curator for a whopping $280. Dibbuk itself is a popular spirit in Yiddish folklore. This malevolent spirit will attached to a person and fulfill what the spirit has not been finished when it was alive, so when the goal of the spirit has accomplished, then it will leave the person whose body attached by it.

7. Silent House (2011)
The movie was a remake of a 2010 Uruguayan movie called La Casa Muda which is translated into The Silent House. In the late 1940 in a small village in Uruguay, a girl who hid some secrets tried to get out of the house. The secrets were some disturbing photos of the cases of murdering and 2 mutilated bodies which were found inside a country home. The interesting part is that the movie was a single take without edit and cuts. It would feel like a real documentary especially for the actress.

8. The Rite (2011)
An American journalist in Rome, Matt Baglio, wrote a book based on Father Gary’s story, an Italian priest who had done over 80 exorcisms. Baglio was also a student of him in doing exorcist training in 2005. Interesting facts taken from this movie are Exorcism course really exists in Italy, and when people say exorcists are old outdated boring people, well that is not completely true, at least the movie is right that every exorcist has a cellphone in Italy.

9. The Haunting in Connecticut (2009)
Although this movie surely does not belong to any of The Conjuring Universe, but the Connecticut haunted house was one of the cases investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren. They believe that the house was a former funeral home where also a place to practiced necromancy or seance by morticians. Despite the rumor that most of the story especially the exorcism was dramatized, the case was real, and a researcher Joe Nickell also has dismissed the story as hoax since after the death of Ed Warren, some of his coauthors admitted making up the incidents to create scary stories.

10. The Strangers (2008)
A vacation of a family was disrupted by three masked intruders. While the real story was an original day where parents was out leaving children alone in a house. Then, suddenly knocks were on the door, the sister answered it. There were strangers asking for somebody who did not even live there. Luckily, they left after that. Turned out that these people were knocking on doors on the area and if they found out that there was no one home, they would breaking into the house. Based on this story then a movie was created with some spices here and there to make it into horror movie.
